Bright, tart, and deeply fruity, this smoothie is built around a homemade hibiscus tea base that gives it a gorgeous ruby color and a floral depth you just can't get from plain water or juice. Frozen strawberries, mixed berries, and banana blend into a thick, creamy texture without any dairy, making it naturally suited to a low-iodine approach where milk and certain additives are best avoided. Ground flaxseed adds a subtle nuttiness along with plant-based omega-3s, while ginger, turmeric, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice layer in warmth and brightness that make every sip feel intentional. Honey or maple syrup keeps the sweetness clean and straightforward — no processed ingredients or mystery additives to second-guess. Steeping the hibiscus flowers fresh at home means you control exactly what goes in, which matters when you're being careful about what's on the label of store-bought blends. It comes together quickly once the tea has cooled, and the result is vibrant enough to feel like a treat while still being genuinely nourishing.

Bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove from heat, add the dried hibiscus flowers, and steep for 10 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer into a heatproof cup, discard the flowers, and let the tea cool for at least 5 minutes until no longer steaming.
Add the cooled hibiscus tea, frozen strawberries, frozen mixed berries, frozen banana, ground flaxseed, ground ginger, ground turmeric, honey, and lemon juice to a blender.
