A classic Negroni is already one of the most satisfying cocktails ever invented, and this herbal riff takes it somewhere even more interesting. Fresh rosemary and thyme are gently bruised — not muddled into a pulpy mess — so they release just enough aromatic oil to perfume the gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth without overwhelming the drink's signature bitter-sweet balance. The technique matters here: a firm press with the back of a bar spoon is all it takes, and then the herbs stay behind in the mixing glass while the cocktail strains clean over a big cube of ice. Expressing a strip of orange peel over the surface right before serving adds a bright citrus note that ties everything together beautifully. The result is deeply complex, bracingly cold, and genuinely impressive to hand to a guest. Since every ingredient in this recipe is naturally free from tree nuts, there's no label-reading or substitution stress — just a stunning cocktail made entirely from things you can feel good about.

Place the rosemary sprig and thyme sprigs in the bottom of a mixing glass. Press them firmly with the back of a bar spoon 3–4 times — just enough to bruise the leaves and release their oils without shredding the herbs.
Add the gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth to the mixing glass, then fill with ice. Stir steadily for 30–40 seconds, until the outside of the glass feels well chilled and the liquid is cold throughout.
