A classic Negroni is already a beautiful thing, but bruising fresh rosemary and thyme before the stir takes it somewhere genuinely special — herbal, aromatic, and a little unexpected. The technique is simple: press the herbs just enough to wake them up, then let the stirring do the rest, pulling those fragrant oils through every sip. Campari brings its signature bitter edge, sweet vermouth rounds things out, and the gin ties it all together into something that feels both timeless and fresh. That final twist of orange peel over the glass isn't just for show — it deposits a bright citrus mist right on the surface that lifts the whole drink. This is the kind of cocktail that makes guests think you've been tending bar for years, even if it's your first time making it. No beans, no lentils, no legumes of any kind — just clean, botanical ingredients that happen to be naturally free of that entire food group without any substitutions required.

Place the rosemary sprig and thyme sprigs in the bottom of a mixing glass. Press them firmly with the back of a bar spoon 3–4 times — just enough to bruise the leaves and release their oils without shredding the herbs.
Add the gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth to the mixing glass, then fill with ice. Stir steadily for 30–40 seconds, until the outside of the glass feels well chilled and the liquid is cold throughout.
