A classic Negroni is already a beautifully balanced drink, and this herbal riff takes it somewhere even more interesting. Bruising fresh rosemary and thyme before stirring releases their aromatic oils into the gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth, adding a garden-fresh depth that feels sophisticated without being fussy. The technique is simple — a few firm presses with the back of a bar spoon is all it takes — and the payoff is a cocktail that smells as good as it tastes. Expressing the orange peel over the glass at the end is a small step that makes a big difference, sending a bright citrus mist across the surface of the drink. Every ingredient here is straightforward and naturally free from tree nut concerns, so you can mix and serve with total confidence. Whether you're hosting guests or just treating yourself to a proper cocktail night, this one looks stunning in the glass and drinks even better.

Place the rosemary sprig and thyme sprigs in the bottom of a mixing glass. Press them firmly with the back of a bar spoon 3–4 times — just enough to bruise the leaves and release their oils without shredding the herbs.
Add the gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth to the mixing glass, then fill with ice. Stir steadily for 30–40 seconds, until the outside of the glass feels well chilled and the liquid is cold throughout.
