This refreshing twist on a classic half-and-half drink layers fragrant black tea steeped with fresh mint, basil, and optional lavender alongside bright, freshly squeezed lemonade — and the result is something genuinely special. Every component is made from scratch using simple, whole ingredients, so there's no need to scan labels or worry about hidden grains sneaking into your glass. The herbal steep gives the tea a floral, garden-fresh depth that makes this feel far more elevated than your average summer drink. A quick homemade simple syrup ties everything together with just the right touch of sweetness, balancing the tartness of real lemon juice beautifully. It's the kind of drink that looks stunning in a tall glass over ice with a sprig of mint, whether you're hosting a backyard gathering or just treating yourself on a warm afternoon. Clean, vibrant, and completely made from scratch — this one is hard not to love.

Bring 2 cups of the water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from the heat, add the tea bags, mint leaves, basil leaves, and dried lavender (if using), and steep for 5 minutes.
Remove and discard the tea bags. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the herbs gently to extract their liquid, then discard the solids. Stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water and let the tea cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
