This herbal twist on the classic half-and-half drink is refreshing, aromatic, and genuinely impressive to serve at any gathering. Steeping black tea with fresh mint and basil pulls out layers of flavor that plain iced tea simply can't match, and the optional lavender adds a floral note that makes the whole thing feel a little special. A quick homemade simple syrup ties everything together and lets you control exactly how sweet the lemonade side turns out. Every single ingredient here is naturally free of any pork-derived additives or gelatin — no label-scanning required, just fresh produce, pantry staples, and good tea bags. The two components get poured over ice in equal parts, creating that gorgeous layered look before you stir them together. It's the kind of drink that looks like it came from a fancy café but comes together in your own kitchen with very little fuss.

Bring 2 cups of the water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from the heat, add the tea bags, mint leaves, basil leaves, and dried lavender (if using), and steep for 5 minutes.
Remove and discard the tea bags. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the herbs gently to extract their liquid, then discard the solids. Stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water and let the tea cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
