Place the baby carrots in a large skillet and add just enough cold water to cover them by about ½ inch (roughly ¾ cup). Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a steady simmer and cook for 8–10 minutes, until the carrots are just tender when pierced with a fork but still hold their shape.
Drain the carrots and return the skillet to medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt, swirling the pan to coat the bottom.
