Hearty, warming, and packed with real flavor, this skillet hash is the kind of weeknight dinner that proves eating for gut and immune health doesn't have to feel like a sacrifice. Rutabaga steps in as the starchy base, getting golden and tender in coconut oil before being reunited with savory ground turkey and a fragrant blend of fresh ginger, turmeric, and garlic. The double hit of ginger ā both fresh-grated and ground ā gives the whole dish a lively, aromatic depth that makes it taste far more complex than the ingredient list suggests. Coconut aminos and a splash of apple cider vinegar tie everything together with a subtle savory-bright finish, no nightshades or grains required. This recipe sidesteps so many of the usual problem ingredients ā no eggs, no dairy, no legumes, no seed-based spices ā making it genuinely easy to serve with confidence. It comes together in one skillet and serves four, so cleanup is minimal and leftovers reheat beautifully. Finish it with sliced scallions and a handful of fresh parsley straight from the pan for a dish that looks as good as it tastes.

Heat 2 tbsp of the coconut oil in a large (12-inch) skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the diced rutabaga in a single layer and cook, undisturbed, for 5 minutes, until the undersides are golden brown. Stir and continue cooking for another 8ā10 minutes, stirring every 2ā3 minutes, until the rutabaga is tender when pierced with a fork and golden on most sides. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
Reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tbsp coconut oil to the same skillet. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
