Warm, fragrant, and made entirely from scratch, this spiced applesauce is the kind of thing that makes your kitchen smell absolutely incredible. Store-bought applesauce often contains preservatives like BHA and BHT to extend shelf life, but this version skips all of that — just apples, a splash of water, and a bright hit of fresh lemon juice. Ceylon cinnamon, freshly grated ginger, and a pinch of turmeric give it a complex, almost golden warmth that goes way beyond the standard jarred stuff. You control the texture, too: mash it chunky for something rustic and satisfying, or blend it silky smooth if that's your preference. A little drizzle of honey at the end is completely optional, letting the natural sweetness of the apples shine on its own if you'd rather keep it simple. It's equally at home spooned over oatmeal, served alongside a pork chop, or eaten straight from the pot with a spoon — no judgment here.

Combine the apple chunks, water, and lemon juice in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir to coat the apples, then cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are completely tender and beginning to collapse, about 15–18 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat. Add the Ceylon cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric, then stir to combine.
