Fresh strawberries and real lime juice come together in a drink that feels genuinely celebratory without a drop of alcohol or anything you'd need to second-guess while nursing. The homemade strawberry-lime syrup is cooked down with maple syrup and lime zest until it turns a gorgeous deep pink, giving you a naturally sweetened base that's free from artificial dyes, caffeine, or mystery additives. Staying well-hydrated is one of the most-repeated pieces of advice for breastfeeding parents, and having something this pretty and flavorful in the fridge makes it a lot easier to actually reach for a glass. The whole process is straightforward — simmer, strain, stir, and pour — so it comes together even on the kind of day when you're running on minimal sleep. Topped with chilled sparkling water and a handful of ice, it's bright, bubbly, and refreshing in a way that plain water simply isn't. A sprig of fresh mint and a lime wheel on the rim make it feel like something you'd order at a nice café, which is a small but very real mood boost.

Combine the maple syrup, water, strawberries, and lime zest in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries soften and begin to break down and the syrup turns a deep pink, about 4–5 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool for 15 minutes. Pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the solids firmly with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
