Fresh citrus and garden mint come together in this sparkling cooler that tastes like summer in a glass. A homemade maple simple syrup is the secret weapon here — steeping fresh mint leaves in warm syrup coaxes out every bit of herbal fragrance before the whole thing gets brightened with squeezed orange and lime juice. The result is layered, lively, and nothing like the overly sweet bottled drinks you'd find at the store. Chilled sparkling water gets folded in at the end with just a gentle stir, so you keep all that satisfying fizz intact. This kind of drink is naturally free from grains and grain-derived ingredients, which means no label-scanning or ingredient second-guessing — just clean, refreshing flavor from start to finish. It's elegant enough to serve at a backyard gathering but easy enough to throw together on a weeknight when you just want something special to sip.

Combine the water and maple syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the maple syrup fully dissolves, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Add the mint leaves to the warm syrup and press them gently with a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon until fragrant and slightly bruised. Let the mint steep for 15 minutes, then strain through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the leaves to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the spent mint.
