Fresh citrus and garden mint come together in a sparkling drink that feels like summer in a glass. The base is a homemade maple mint simple syrup β just water, maple syrup, and fresh mint leaves steeped until fragrant β which gives the whole cooler a natural, herby sweetness without any refined sugar or store-bought syrups to second-guess. Freshly squeezed orange and lime juice bring bright, tangy depth, and chilled sparkling water ties it all together with a satisfying fizz. This is the kind of drink that looks impressive at a backyard gathering but comes together in under 30 minutes with nothing more than a saucepan and a pitcher. Because every ingredient is whole and straightforward, there's no need to scan labels or worry about hidden additives sneaking in. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of fresh mint and it's genuinely beautiful β no fuss, no shortcuts, just a really good glass of something cold and refreshing.

Combine the water and maple syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the maple syrup fully dissolves, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Add the mint leaves to the warm syrup and press them gently with a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon until fragrant and slightly bruised. Let the mint steep for 15 minutes, then strain through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the leaves to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the spent mint.
