That slushy, rosy drink you see at fast-food counters and convenience stores almost always gets its vivid color from synthetic dyes — but this blended version earns every bit of its gorgeous pink hue from real strawberries alone. Fresh fruit, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and a quick homemade simple syrup are all it takes to build something that tastes genuinely bright and refreshing. The blender does the heavy lifting, churning everything into a thick, icy slush that's as satisfying as anything you'd order through a drive-through window. Because you're making the syrup yourself from just sugar and water, there's no mystery ingredient list to decode and no store-bought shortcuts that sneak in unwanted additives. The balance of sweet and tart is totally adjustable — a little more lemon if you like it punchy, a touch more syrup if you want it mellow. Garnish with a lemon slice and a sprig of fresh mint and it looks like something from a fancy café, even though it comes together in minutes.

Combine the sugar and 1/3 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold, at least 30 minutes.
Add the hulled strawberries, lemon juice, cold water, ice cubes, and all of the chilled simple syrup to a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth and slushy, about 45–60 seconds.
