Summer sipping doesn't get much better than this — a bright, fruit-forward lemonade built on real strawberries, blueberries, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. The secret weapon is a homemade vanilla simple syrup made with maple syrup and a whole vanilla bean, which adds a warm, floral depth that no store-bought mix can touch. Muddling the berries directly in the pitcher coaxes out their natural juice and color, turning the whole drink a gorgeous rosy hue before you even pour a drop. You can strain it smooth for a polished, clear glass or leave the berry pulp in for something a little more rustic and textured — both versions are completely worth it. Every single ingredient here is naturally free of tree nuts, so there's no label-scanning or cross-contamination anxiety to worry about. A handful of fresh mint on top makes it feel like something you'd pay too much for at a fancy brunch spot, except you made it at home in about 30 minutes.

Combine the maple syrup, 1/2 cup water, vanilla bean seeds, and the scraped pod in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the maple syrup is fully dissolved, about 2 minutes, then remove from the heat and let the syrup steep for 20 minutes.
Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a small bowl or measuring cup, discarding the vanilla pod. Let the syrup cool to room temperature, about 10 minutes.
