Bright, sun-sweet, and impossibly fresh, this glass of homemade orange juice is one of those simple pleasures that store-bought versions can never quite match. All you need are a few ripe navel or Valencia oranges and a citrus juicer, and you're minutes away from something genuinely vibrant. A tiny pinch of salt is optional, but it subtly rounds out the natural sweetness and makes the citrus flavor pop in the best way. You can strain it smooth or leave it pulpy depending on your mood — either way, it tastes like the real thing because it is. There's no processing, no additives, and nothing to second-guess about what's in your glass.

Halve 4 large oranges crosswise. Press each half firmly onto a citrus juicer and twist to extract the juice, working over a measuring cup or bowl until all halves are juiced — you should have about 2 cups of juice.
Pour the juice through a fine-mesh strainer into glasses to remove seeds and excess pulp, or skip the strainer if you prefer pulpy juice. Add a pinch of salt, if using, and stir briefly. Serve immediately.
