Bright, herby, and refreshingly tart, this mint citrus lemonade is the kind of drink that makes you feel like you're sitting on a porch in the middle of summer. The base is built from freshly squeezed lemon and orange juice, so every sip has that vibrant, just-picked flavor you simply can't get from a powder or concentrate. A homemade mint simple syrup made with maple syrup gives it a gentle, floral sweetness that feels a little more interesting than plain sugar water. Because every ingredient here is naturally free of thickeners and stabilizers, there's zero need to scan labels or worry about hidden additives sneaking into your glass. The whole thing comes together in one pitcher with just a handful of fresh, whole ingredients — no specialty products required. Serve it over ice with a few citrus slices and a sprig of mint for a drink that looks as good as it tastes.

Combine the maple syrup and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the syrup is fully dissolved, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Add the mint leaves to the warm syrup and press them gently with a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon until fragrant. Let the mint steep for 10 minutes, then strain out and discard the leaves.
