Bright, herby, and refreshingly citrusy, this homemade lemonade is the kind of drink that makes you want to sit on a porch and do absolutely nothing productive. Fresh lemon juice and orange juice are squeezed together for a layered tartness that store-bought versions simply can't replicate. The real star is the mint simple syrup — made by steeping fresh mint leaves right into warm maple syrup — which gives every sip a cool, aromatic lift without any artificial flavoring. Maple syrup keeps things naturally sweetened and adds a subtle depth that plain sugar just doesn't bring. Since every single ingredient here is pure and plant-based, there's zero guesswork about what's actually in your glass. It's easy to tweak to your taste too, whether you like it puckery and tart or a little more mellow and diluted. A pitcher of this disappears fast, so you might want to make a double batch right from the start.

Combine the maple syrup and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the syrup is fully dissolved, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Add the mint leaves to the warm syrup and press them gently with a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon until fragrant. Let the mint steep for 10 minutes, then strain out and discard the leaves.
