Bright, jewel-toned, and bursting with summer flavor, this blueberry mint lemonade is the kind of drink that makes you want to sit on a porch and do absolutely nothing productive. Fresh blueberries are simmered with maple syrup until they burst into a gorgeous deep-purple syrup, then steeped with mint leaves for a fragrant, layered sweetness you just can't get from a powder or concentrate. Straining the syrup gives you a silky, vibrant base that blends beautifully with freshly squeezed lemon juice and cold water. Many store-bought lemonades and flavored syrups sneak in coconut sugar or coconut water as trendy sweeteners, but here maple syrup does all the heavy lifting — naturally and deliciously. The balance of tart citrus, fruity depth, and cool herbal freshness is genuinely hard to beat on a warm day. Pour it over a big glass of ice, tuck in a sprig of fresh mint, and it looks as impressive as anything you'd order at a café.

Combine the blueberries, maple syrup, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries burst and the liquid turns deep purple, about 4–5 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and add the mint leaves. Let the mixture steep for 10 minutes, until the mint fragrance is clearly present in the syrup.
