This bold, bracing tonic is built from a lineup of whole roots, fresh citrus, and pantry spices that pack a serious punch in every small sip. Horseradish, ginger, and turmeric come together with garlic, lemon, orange, and a hit of cayenne to create something fiery, bright, and deeply satisfying. Because every ingredient here is raw and recognizable, you sidestep the synthetic preservatives and chemical additives that show up in so many commercial wellness shots and bottled tonics. The process is beautifully low-tech — everything goes into a glass jar, gets covered in raw apple cider vinegar, and steeps in a cool dark spot for two weeks while the flavors develop and deepen. A daily shake is all the effort required during that time, and the reward is a rich, complex liquid that smells incredible and tastes even better. Raw honey rounds out the heat at the end, giving the finished tonic just enough sweetness to balance all that fire. It keeps for up to six months in the fridge, so one batch goes a long way.

Add the grated horseradish, grated ginger, grated turmeric, sliced garlic, lemon zest and juice, orange zest and juice, crushed black peppercorns, and cayenne to a clean 1-quart wide-mouth glass jar. Tuck in the rosemary sprig, if using.
Pour the apple cider vinegar over the solids, pressing them down gently so everything is submerged. The jar should be nearly full; if the solids are not covered, add a splash more vinegar.
