Spice blends are fine during pregnancy in normal cooking amounts - this recipe uses about scant 1/4 tsp per serving. The caution applies to concentrated herbal oils and supplements, not everyday seasoning.



Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until no pink remains and the meat is browned in spots, about 7–8 minutes. Drain off all but about 1 tablespoon of fat.
Add the onion and green bell pepper to the pot and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until softened and the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
