2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp orange zest

For the cream layer

1 cup heavy cream
Chef's tip
Use unsweetened dairy-free heavy cream in cooked sauces, soups, and ganache. For whipped uses, choose a product labeled whippable.
½ cup whole milk
Chef's tip
Use plain, unsweetened soy milk, measured 1:1. It's one of the most reliable milk swaps and works in sauces, custards, and baked goods. For hot or acidic drinks, a barista-style soy milk resists curdling.
3 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

1
Make the orange layer: whisk together the orange juice, 2 tbsp sugar, and orange zest in a small bowl until the sugar is fully dissolved, about 1 minute.
2
Make the cream layer: whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, 3 tbsp sugar, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth and uniform, about 1 minute.
