Bright, tangy, and flushed with the color of fresh summer berries, this strawberry lemonade is the kind of drink that makes you want to sit on a porch and do absolutely nothing productive. The strawberry syrup is made by gently simmering real fruit with sugar and water until the berries break down and release every bit of their natural sweetness โ no artificial flavors, no mystery additives. Bottled lemonades and flavored drinks are notorious for sneaking in seed oils through emulsifiers and flavorings, but every single ingredient here is exactly what it sounds like. Fresh lemon juice, fresh strawberries, sugar, and water โ that's the whole story. The syrup gets strained smooth before it meets the lemonade, so you get a beautifully clear, jewel-toned pitcher with zero grittiness. It's endlessly adjustable too, so if your lemons are particularly tart or your berries are on the sweeter side, a quick taste and a pinch more sugar brings everything into balance. Serve it over a tall glass of ice and it's honestly hard to believe something this good requires so little effort.

Combine the strawberries, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the strawberries soften and release their juices, about 5โ7 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and let the syrup cool for 5 minutes, then pour it through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool to room temperature, about 20โ25 minutes.
