There is something undeniably refreshing about a tall glass of peach iced tea on a warm afternoon, and this homemade version puts the store-bought stuff to shame. The secret is a quick peach syrup made from real ripe peaches, sugar, and water — simmered until the fruit breaks down and releases all that sweet, fragrant juice. Straining the syrup gives you a silky, golden liquid that blends beautifully into the brewed black tea without any cloudiness or bitterness. The whole drink is naturally free of any animal-derived or pork-based additives, so every single ingredient is exactly what it sounds like — clean, simple, and wholesome. Garnished with fresh peach slices and a sprig of mint, it looks stunning in a glass and tastes even better than it looks. This is the kind of pitcher drink you make once and then find yourself making every single weekend for the rest of summer.

Combine the chopped peaches, sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the peaches soften and begin to break down, about 8–10 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the peach mixture cool for 5 minutes, then press it through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing the solids firmly with the back of a spoon to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids.
