There is something undeniably refreshing about a tall glass of peach iced tea on a warm afternoon, and this homemade version delivers that sweet, fruity satisfaction in the most satisfying way. The real star is the fresh peach syrup — ripe peaches simmered down with sugar and water, then strained into a silky, fragrant concentrate that gives every sip a genuine fruit flavor you simply cannot get from a powder or bottle. Since everything here is made from scratch with whole, simple ingredients, you never have to second-guess what's actually in your glass. Black tea bags, fresh peaches, sugar, and water are all it takes to build something that tastes genuinely special. Poured over ice and finished with a peach slice and a sprig of fresh mint, it looks as good as it tastes. It's the kind of drink that disappears fast at gatherings, so you may want to make a double batch.

Combine the chopped peaches, sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the peaches soften and begin to break down, about 8–10 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the peach mixture cool for 5 minutes, then press it through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing the solids firmly with the back of a spoon to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids.
