There is something deeply satisfying about a tall glass of peach iced tea made entirely from scratch, and this version delivers that sweet, fruity refreshment without any of the additives hiding in bottled or powdered drink mixes. Store-bought teas and flavored beverages are surprisingly common sources of preservatives, including nitrates and nitrites used to extend shelf life — so brewing your own is genuinely the smarter move. The homemade peach syrup is the real star here: ripe peaches are simmered down with sugar and water, then strained into a silky, fragrant concentrate that gives the tea its gorgeous color and natural sweetness. Steeped black tea brings a gentle depth that balances the fruit perfectly, and the whole thing comes together with nothing more than real ingredients you can see and trust. Served over ice with optional peach slices and fresh mint, it looks like something from a Southern porch in July. It's the kind of drink that makes you wonder why you ever reached for a bottle in the first place.

Combine the chopped peaches, sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the peaches soften and begin to break down, about 8–10 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the peach mixture cool for 5 minutes, then press it through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing the solids firmly with the back of a spoon to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids.
