Nothing says summer refreshment quite like a tall glass of peach iced tea, and this homemade version is genuinely hard to beat. The secret is a quick peach syrup made from real ripe peaches and granulated sugar — no shortcuts, no substitutes, and absolutely no honey in sight. That matters more than you might think, since plenty of flavored syrups and bottled teas sneak in honey as a sweetener, making store-bought options a bit of a gamble. Here, you're in full control from start to finish. The syrup gets strained smooth and stirred right into freshly brewed black tea, giving you that gorgeous peachy sweetness in every sip without any guesswork. Served over ice with optional peach slices and fresh mint, it looks like something from a restaurant patio but comes together in your own kitchen with minimal effort. It's the kind of drink that disappears fast, so you might want to make a double batch.

Combine the chopped peaches, sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the peaches soften and begin to break down, about 8–10 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the peach mixture cool for 5 minutes, then press it through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing the solids firmly with the back of a spoon to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids.
