Few drinks capture the feeling of a slow summer afternoon quite like a tall glass of peach iced tea. This version builds its peachy flavor from a simple homemade syrup made by simmering fresh peaches with sugar and water, then straining out the solids so you're left with a smooth, fragrant concentrate. That process matters here — cooking the fruit down and pressing it through a fine-mesh strainer removes the fibrous pulp that carries much of the fructose load, making this a far friendlier option than store-bought peach teas or syrups packed with high-fructose corn syrup and fruit juice concentrates. The brewed black tea adds depth and a gentle bitterness that balances the sweetness beautifully. Served over ice with optional peach slices and fresh mint, it looks just as good as it tastes. It's the kind of drink you'll want to keep a pitcher of in the fridge all week long.

Combine the chopped peaches, sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the peaches soften and begin to break down, about 8–10 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the peach mixture cool for 5 minutes, then press it through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing the solids firmly with the back of a spoon to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids.
