Sweet, fruity, and endlessly refreshing, this peach iced tea is the kind of drink that makes a hot afternoon feel like a genuine occasion. The real star is the homemade peach syrup — ripe peaches simmered down with sugar and water until they're soft and fragrant, then strained into a silky, golden concentrate that tastes nothing like the artificial stuff. Because everything here is built from scratch with whole, simple ingredients, there's no need to scan labels or second-guess spice blends hiding unwanted additives. Brewed black tea forms the backbone, and once the peach syrup is stirred in, the result is perfectly balanced — floral and sweet without being cloying. Served over ice with optional peach slices and fresh mint, it looks as good as it tastes. This is the kind of recipe you'll want to keep on rotation all summer long.

Combine the chopped peaches, sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the peaches soften and begin to break down, about 8–10 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the peach mixture cool for 5 minutes, then press it through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing the solids firmly with the back of a spoon to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids.
