Staying hydrated during pregnancy is genuinely important, and sometimes plain water just doesn't cut it. This from-scratch lemonade is a bright, refreshing alternative made with nothing but fresh lemon juice, sugar, and water — no artificial colors, no preservatives, and no mystery ingredients to second-guess. Squeezing your own lemons and straining the juice keeps everything clean and simple, which is exactly what you want when you're being more mindful about what goes into your body. The homemade simple syrup lets you control the sweetness, so you can dial it up or down depending on your cravings that day. Served over ice with a sprig of fresh mint, it feels like a little treat without any of the worry. It's the kind of drink that's easy to make in a big pitcher and keep in the fridge for whenever that thirst hits.

Combine the sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved, about 3–4 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool for 15 minutes.
While the syrup cools, juice the lemons and strain the juice through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove seeds and pulp.
