Oregano is fine during pregnancy in normal cooking amounts - this recipe uses about scant 1/4 tsp per serving. The caution is about concentrated oregano oil and large medicinal doses.

Heat a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned and no pink remains at the center, about 7–8 minutes. Tilt the pot and spoon off all but about 1 tbsp of the rendered fat.
Reduce the heat to medium. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent, about 4–5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute.
