Combine the soy sauce, fermented black bean paste, honey, molasses, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, five-spice powder, chili garlic sauce, and water in a small saucepan and whisk until the paste is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Set the saucepan over medium-low heat and cook, whisking frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly and the garlic is fragrant, about 4ā5 minutes. The sauce should coat the back of a spoon and leave a clear line when a finger is drawn through.
