Few drinks are as refreshing or as satisfying to sip on a warm afternoon as this half-and-half classic. Brewed black tea meets bright, freshly squeezed lemonade in a pitcher that practically makes itself, and the result is perfectly balanced — tart, lightly sweet, and deeply refreshing. Because everything here is made from scratch with simple pantry staples, there's no need to scan labels for hidden additives or fermented ingredients that can sneak into store-bought versions. The homemade simple syrup keeps things smooth and consistent, while fresh lemon juice gives the lemonade a clean, vibrant punch that bottled concentrate just can't match. Poured over ice with a sprig of mint and a lemon slice, it looks like something you'd order at a nice restaurant — but it comes together in your own kitchen with almost no effort. Make a big pitcher and keep it in the fridge; it's the kind of drink that disappears fast.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
