Few drinks are as refreshing or as satisfying as this half-iced-tea, half-lemonade classic, and making it from scratch is genuinely worth the extra few minutes. The tea is steeped just long enough to develop a smooth, mellow depth without any bitterness, while a quick homemade simple syrup keeps the lemonade perfectly balanced — tart, bright, and not overly sweet. Fresh lemon juice is the real star here, giving the whole pitcher a clean citrus lift that bottled juice simply can't match. Everything comes together in one pitcher, poured over ice and finished with lemon slices and mint for a presentation that looks far more impressive than the effort involved. Since every single ingredient is a whole, recognizable pantry staple, there's zero guesswork about what's actually in your glass — no labels to scrutinize, no hidden additives to worry about. It's the kind of drink that works equally well for a backyard cookout, a lazy afternoon on the porch, or a simple weeknight dinner alongside something off the grill.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
