Few drinks are as satisfying as a tall, ice-cold glass of half iced tea, half lemonade on a warm afternoon. This homemade version is built entirely from scratch — brewed black tea, a quick stovetop simple syrup, and freshly squeezed lemon juice — so you know exactly what's going into every sip. For anyone navigating a seeds-free lifestyle, bottled teas and lemonades can be surprisingly tricky, since some contain added flavorings or botanical blends that sneak in unexpected ingredients. Here, there's nothing to second-guess. The balance of tart citrus and smooth, lightly tannic tea is genuinely refreshing, and the optional mint and lemon garnish make it feel like something you'd order at a nice restaurant. It comes together with minimal effort and scales up easily if you're serving a crowd.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
