Few drinks are as satisfying as a tall, ice-cold glass of half iced tea, half lemonade — that perfect balance of mellow and bright that somehow tastes like summer in every sip. This version is made entirely from scratch, with freshly brewed black tea and a quick homemade simple syrup stirred together with real squeezed lemon juice. The result is so much better than anything from a can or powder, with a clean tartness and a depth of flavor that pre-made versions just can't touch. Since every single ingredient here is naturally grain-free and contains absolutely no rice or rice derivatives, it's a completely stress-free pour for anyone navigating that restriction. Steeping the tea bags without squeezing them keeps the drink smooth and mellow rather than bitter, and the lemonade is easy to tweak to your own taste — a little more citrus if you like it punchy, a splash more water if you want it gentler. Garnished with fresh mint and lemon slices, it looks as good as it tastes and is genuinely impressive for a backyard gathering or a lazy afternoon on the porch.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
