Few drinks are as refreshing or as satisfying as a perfectly balanced half-and-half, and this homemade version delivers that classic sweet-tart combo in the most straightforward way possible. Steeped black tea meets a bright, fresh-squeezed lemonade built on a quick simple syrup, and the result is something that tastes far better than anything you'd pour from a bottle. Every single ingredient here is naturally free from animal proteins, so there's nothing to second-guess or swap out — it's just clean, simple, delicious drinking. The lemonade component is the real star, made with real lemon juice rather than concentrate, which gives the whole pitcher a lively citrus punch that store-bought blends can never quite match. Steep the tea gently, let everything cool properly, and you'll have a pitcher that's endlessly drinkable over ice on a warm afternoon. A few mint sprigs and lemon slices on the rim turn it into something that looks as good as it tastes.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
