Few drinks hit quite like a cold Arnold Palmer on a warm afternoon — that perfect balance of bold black tea and bright, citrusy lemonade is genuinely hard to beat. This version is made entirely from scratch, which means fresh lemon juice, a quick homemade simple syrup, and properly steeped tea all come together in one beautiful pitcher. There's nothing to second-guess here ingredient-wise — just tea, lemons, sugar, and water, so it's naturally free of anything you'd want to avoid. Steeping the tea bags without squeezing them keeps the flavor smooth and clean rather than bitter, and the lemonade gets balanced to taste so you can dial up the tartness exactly how you like it. Poured over a tall glass of ice with a lemon slice and a sprig of fresh mint, it looks like something you'd pay too much for at a café. Make a big pitcher and keep it in the fridge — it disappears fast.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
