Few drinks are as satisfying as a tall, ice-cold glass of half iced tea, half lemonade — it's the ultimate warm-weather refresher that somehow feels both nostalgic and effortlessly cool. This version is made entirely from scratch, with freshly squeezed lemon juice, a quick homemade simple syrup, and properly steeped black tea that's smooth and never bitter. The balance of tart citrus and mellow tea is genuinely hard to beat, and the optional mint and lemon garnish make it look like something you'd pay too much for at a café. Since every single ingredient here is a whole, simple pantry staple, there's absolutely nothing to second-guess — no hidden additives, no processed mixes, just clean, bright flavor in a glass. It's the kind of drink that disappears fast, so you might want to double the batch before your guests even arrive.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
