Few drinks hit quite like a perfectly balanced half-and-half on a warm afternoon, and this homemade version is genuinely hard to beat. Brewed black tea meets bright, freshly squeezed lemonade in a ratio that's tart, lightly sweet, and endlessly refreshing. The lemonade base starts with a quick homemade simple syrup, so the sweetness blends in smoothly rather than settling at the bottom of the glass. Real lemon juice makes all the difference here — it gives the drink a clean, citrusy punch that bottled versions just can't match. Naturally free from fungi of any kind, every single ingredient is straightforward and easy to source without a second thought. Garnished with lemon slices and fresh mint over a tall glass of ice, it looks as good as it tastes. This is the kind of drink you'll want to keep a pitcher of in the fridge all season long.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
