Few drinks are as satisfying as a tall, ice-cold Arnold Palmer on a warm afternoon, and this homemade version puts every bottled option to shame. The combination of freshly brewed black tea and bright, tangy lemonade made with real lemon juice creates a balance that's both refreshing and genuinely craveable. Making your own simple syrup means you control the sweetness, so you can dial it up or back depending on your crowd. Everything here is straightforward pantry and produce staples — water, sugar, lemons, and tea bags — so there's zero guesswork about what's actually in your glass. A few lemon slices and a sprig of fresh mint make it look effortlessly put-together without any extra effort. This is the kind of drink that disappears fast, so you might want to double the batch before your guests even arrive.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
