Few drinks are as refreshing as a tall, ice-cold Arnold Palmer on a warm afternoon, and making it from scratch is genuinely worth the extra few minutes. The problem with bottled versions is that they almost always rely on high fructose corn syrup as a sweetener, which means the ingredient list reads more like a chemistry experiment than a beverage. This homemade version uses a quick simple syrup made from plain granulated sugar, so you know exactly what's going into your glass. Freshly squeezed lemon juice gives the lemonade a bright, tart backbone that no store-bought concentrate can match, and the black tea adds that classic depth without any additives or preservatives. The two halves come together in a single pitcher, making it easy to batch for a crowd or just keep in the fridge for yourself all week. Garnished with lemon slices and fresh mint, it looks as good as it tastes — effortlessly classic and completely clean.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
