Few drinks are as refreshing or as quietly sophisticated as this half-and-half classic, and making it from scratch is genuinely worth the extra few minutes. The combination of brewed black tea and fresh-squeezed lemonade is naturally gentle on the digestive system — no artificial sweeteners, no mystery additives, just real ingredients you can feel good about. Steeping the tea bags without squeezing them keeps the brew smooth and low in tannins, which matters when you're paying attention to what your gut is actually processing. The simple syrup dissolves cleanly into the lemonade, and fresh lemon juice brings brightness without the preservatives you'd find in a bottled mix. It's endlessly adjustable too — a little more lemon if you want it tart, a splash more water if you prefer it mellow. Serve it over ice with mint and lemon slices and it looks like something from a restaurant patio, no effort required.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
