Few drinks are as refreshing as this half-and-half blend of brewed black tea and bright, freshly squeezed lemonade. Managing eosinophilic esophagitis often means scrutinizing every label and avoiding a long list of common trigger foods, so having a go-to drink that's made entirely from scratch — with nothing hidden in the ingredient list — is genuinely freeing. The lemonade is built from a quick homemade simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and water, so you know exactly what's going in the glass. The tea is steeped gently and never squeezed, which keeps the flavor clean and smooth rather than bitter. Everything comes together in one pitcher, poured over ice for a tall, golden drink that feels like a treat without any of the guesswork. Garnish with lemon slices or a sprig of fresh mint if you have them on hand — it makes the whole thing feel a little more special.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
