Few drinks are as refreshing or as satisfying as a tall glass of equal parts iced tea and fresh lemonade, and this homemade version absolutely delivers. The secret is in the details — steeping the tea just long enough without squeezing the bags keeps it smooth and never bitter, while a quick simple syrup ensures the lemonade is perfectly balanced rather than grainy. Fresh-squeezed lemon juice makes all the difference here, giving the drink a bright, tart backbone that bottled juice simply can't match. Everything comes together in one pitcher, making it easy to batch for a crowd or keep in the fridge for the week. Naturally free of any dairy, this is a drink you can pour without a second thought — no label-checking required. Pile the glasses high with ice, add a lemon slice and a sprig of mint, and you've got something that looks and tastes like it came from a proper restaurant patio.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
