Few drinks hit the spot quite like a tall, ice-cold glass of equal parts sweet tea and fresh lemonade — it's the kind of refreshment that feels tailor-made for a hot afternoon on the porch. This version is made entirely from scratch, with brewed black tea and a homemade simple syrup that lets you dial in exactly how sweet or tart you want it. The lemonade component uses real squeezed lemon juice, which gives it a bright, zingy backbone that no bottled mix can match. Because every single ingredient here is a pantry or produce staple, there's absolutely nothing to second-guess — no hidden additives, no processed blends, just clean, straightforward flavors you can trust. A few lemon slices and fresh mint sprigs on top make it look like something you'd pay too much for at a café, but it comes together in under half an hour right in your own kitchen. Make a full pitcher and keep it in the fridge — it disappears fast.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
