Few drinks are as refreshing or as satisfying as a tall glass of iced tea and lemonade combined, and this homemade version is genuinely hard to beat. The lemonade is made from scratch with fresh-squeezed juice and a quick simple syrup, so every sip is bright, tart, and perfectly balanced against the mellow depth of the steeped black tea. Because everything here is made from whole, simple ingredients, you never have to squint at a label or wonder what's hiding in a store-bought mix. Steeping the tea bags without squeezing them keeps the flavor clean and smooth rather than bitter, which makes a real difference in the final glass. A handful of ice, a few lemon slices, and a sprig of fresh mint turn it into something that looks as good as it tastes. It's the kind of drink that works for a backyard cookout, a quiet afternoon on the porch, or anytime you want something cold and genuinely delicious.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
