Few drinks hit the spot quite like a tall, ice-cold glass of half iced tea, half lemonade — it's refreshing, a little nostalgic, and somehow better than either drink on its own. This homemade version is built entirely from scratch, starting with steeped black tea and a quick stovetop simple syrup that comes together in just a few minutes. Fresh lemon juice is the real star here, giving the lemonade a bright, tart backbone that store-bought versions rarely match. Because every ingredient is whole and straightforward — water, sugar, tea, lemons — there's nothing hidden to worry about, making it a naturally safe pour for anyone avoiding grain-based additives or flavorings. The trick of not squeezing the tea bags keeps the brew clean and smooth rather than bitter, so the final blend stays balanced and drinkable. Garnished with lemon slices and fresh mint, it looks as good as it tastes. Make a big pitcher and keep it in the fridge — it disappears fast.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
