Few drinks hit the way a cold, freshly made Arnold Palmer does on a warm afternoon — that perfect balance of bold black tea and bright, tangy lemonade is genuinely hard to beat. This version is made entirely from scratch, which means you control every single ingredient that goes into the pitcher. For anyone watching their sodium intake, that matters more than you might think — bottled teas and powdered lemonade mixes are notorious for sneaking in sodium and other additives you never asked for. Here, the lemonade gets its sweetness from a quick homemade simple syrup and its zip from real squeezed lemon juice, with absolutely nothing extra added. The tea is steeped gently and diluted with cold water so it stays smooth and never bitter. Poured over ice with a few mint sprigs and lemon slices, it looks and tastes like something from a nice restaurant — but you made it yourself, and you know exactly what's in it.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, add the 4 tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, then stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
While the tea cools, combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in the saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
