Sweet and sour meatballs are one of those crowd-pleasing dishes that usually come loaded with bottled sauces full of Red 40, caramel color, and other dyes you'd rather not think about. This version builds every bit of that glossy, tangy-sweet flavor from scratch using real ingredients — pineapple juice, apple cider vinegar, honey, and a clever splash of sweet potato purée that gives the sauce its gorgeous golden hue without a drop of artificial color. Coconut aminos step in for soy sauce and bring a deep, savory backbone, while fresh ginger and garlic keep the meatballs themselves fragrant and bold. Cassava flour binds everything together beautifully, so the texture is tender and satisfying. The sear-then-bake method locks in a nice crust before the meatballs get tossed in that thick, glossy sauce alongside juicy chunks of fresh pineapple. It's the kind of dish that tastes like it came from a restaurant but was made entirely in your own kitchen, with full control over what went into it.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cassava flour, 2 tbsp coconut aminos, garlic, 1 tsp grated ginger, salt, and turmeric. Mix with your hands until just combined — do not overwork the meat. Roll into balls about 1½ inches in diameter (roughly 20–22 meatballs) and arrange on the prepared baking sheet.
