Few drinks hit the way a properly made cappuccino does — that balance of bold espresso, silky steamed milk, and a thick cap of foam is genuinely hard to beat. The good news is that coffee and whole milk are naturally free of nightshades, so this is one indulgence you can enjoy without scanning a single label or second-guessing a single ingredient. The technique here is what elevates it from a basic cup to something café-worthy: a firm, even tamp, a 25–30 second pull, and milk steamed to that sweet spot between 140–150°F where it turns glossy and sweet on its own. Getting the foam right takes a little practice with the steam wand angle, but once you nail the swirl and the tap-on-the-counter trick to smooth out the bubbles, it becomes second nature fast. Pouring in thirds — espresso, steamed milk, then spooned foam — gives you that classic layered structure that looks as good as it tastes. Serve it immediately in a pre-warmed cup and it stays at the perfect temperature all the way to the last sip.
